Patron - Graham McKee
Like so many of us, Graham started coming to Goolwa on weekends to visit friends with his wife Deborah, eventually buying a shack in 2005.
In 2008 Graham and Deborah purchased their current home in Goolwa, commuting to Adelaide for a few years before retiring in Goolwa.
After settling in Goolwa Graham joined the Goolwa and Victor Harbor Sea Rescue Squadron, serving as a committee member for the last year of his service.
In 2013 Graham joined the GAC Speedboat Committee where he continues to serve as a member of the Committee. This Committee has successfully run eight Aquafest events for the Goolwa Community.
In 2015 the GAC building which included the then Fleurieu Function Centre and Aqucaf were returned to the control of the Alexandrina Council and the GAC was in financial trouble.
After a lot of encouragement Graham nominated and was elected Commodore of the GAC and served in that position for four years (two terms) until the 2019 Annual General Meeting.
Graham, with the support of the Committee members during those four years, relied on his business and risk management experience to implement strategies to restore the Club’s financial stability and reputation within the Goolwa Community.
Alongside his contribution to GAC, Graham has additional volunteer roles with Vogalonga Down Unda as a Committee Member, and the Goolwa Community Centre as the Olive Grove Manager for their olive oil social enterprise project.
