Welcome to GAC Sailing Club

Whether you have your own dinghy or just want to try your hand at sailing, GAC Sailing Club has something for everyone!

We are an inclusive, family-oriented, vibrant, friendly club that caters for a wide range of dinghy types (including Windsurfer sailboards and selected catamarans), ages, genders and abilities.

Most of our activities throughout the year take place on Sundays, including junior training in the mornings and mixed fleet racing in the afternoons. A link to our program is provided here.

The club’s location, with easy parking and grassy banks adjacent protected waters makes it an ideal spot for small boat sailing and longboard sailboarding. Sailing events take place close to shore, so friends and family can easily watch from the clubhouse or the Bombora café next door.

The river itself provides flat, fresh water and easy launching for beginners, while the shifting winds and obstacles provide interest and excitement in racing, building the skills of even the most experienced of sailors. The protected waters make sailing possible even in quite windy conditions.

Our club runs a racing series, regattas, cruising days and learn to sail courses. Every aspect of the club's operations is run by our great team of volunteers, from the start crew, safety boat drivers, coaches, race registration and results to those running the bar. Many of them are from sailing backgrounds, and some just like to be beside the water among friends.

The club owns a fleet of Pacers and Optimists primarily for teaching sailing, that can be hired or leased by members on scheduled racing days. Please note, we do not currently have capacity to hire boats on an ad-hoc basis to non-members.

If you want to come and try dinghy sailing at our club, or would like to find out about volunteering, contact us via email GAC.Sailing@gmail.com , or chat to one of our committee after sailing on a Sunday afternoon. Check out our Facebook page to find out what our members have been up to recently.
